Manager, Training & Instruction Delivery

Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre (WWFC) is seeking a Manager, Training & Instruction Delivery to provide leadership and oversight for the delivery, development and continuous improvement of our flight training and education programs.

Reporting to the Chief Flight Instructor, this position leads the Flight Instructor Supervisors and works closely with the broader instructional team to ensure consistent, high-quality instruction and an exceptional student experience.

This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced flight instructor who combines technical expertise with people leadership, program oversight and a commitment to continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

Training Delivery & Instructor Leadership

  • Provide leadership and direction to Flight Instructor Supervisors, who oversee the day-to-day support and supervision of ground, simulator and flight instructors.
  • Build instructor capability through effective onboarding, coaching, development and ongoing support.
  • Promote consistency in instructional practices, standards and the student learning experience.
  • Support Flight Instructor Supervisors with instructor performance management, coaching and evaluation.
  • Participate directly in course delivery, including teaching and flight instruction.
  • Work closely with the Client Experience team to address training-related matters and support student success.
  • Support effective instructor scheduling and availability to maximize training continuity and fleet utilization.

Program Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure training materials, resources and delivery methods meet applicable Transport Canada and Approved Training Organization (ATO) requirements.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements, standards and WWFC procedures.
  • Establish effective processes to monitor instructional quality, identify gaps and drive improvements in training delivery.
  • Maintain WWFC’s Transport Canada-approved manuals and ensure required amendments remain current.

Program Development & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead the development and maintenance of flight training programs, including curriculum, syllabi, training materials and instructional resources.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and identify opportunities to enhance learning outcomes, operational efficiency and the student experience.
  • Establish and monitor measures of instructional effectiveness and student success.
  • Seek and incorporate relevant industry practices and emerging trends into WWFC’s programs.
  • Research and lead initiatives that strengthen instructional and operational excellence.

Leadership & Planning

  • Chair WWFC’s Program Committee.
  • Contribute to organizational goals and key performance indicators related to training delivery and student success.
  • Help shape the long-term direction of WWFC’s flight training programs.
  • Oversee departmental budgets and operating expenses.
  • Model WWFC’s mission, vision, values and standards of conduct.

What You Bring

  • Class 1 or Class 2 Flight Instructor Rating
  • Valid Class 1 Medical
  • Bachelor’s degree, college diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in aviation, training and development, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in flight training, instructional leadership or a related environment.
  • Strong knowledge of flight training, program management and curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop instructional staff.
  • Strong planning, organizational and financial management skills.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence, collaborate and build effective working relationships.
